West Coast Swells
Swells impacted the west coast in December.
A series of large wave events are being recorded at CDIP stations all along the West Coast as a result of extratropical storm activity in the Pacific Ocean, consistent with the ongoing El Niño. The pulse that arrived on December 28 came close to historic records at several of our California stations, and compounded by high tides, caused significant coastal inundation and erosion.
