Florida Buoy Replaced

The buoy at CDIP 214 Egmont Channel Entrance, FL was replaced today. http://cdip.ucsd.edu/m/products/?stn=214p1

This buoy is part of the Tampa Bays PORTS system, which provides real-time data to vessels transiting in and out of the Port of Tampa Bay.

Hurricane Erin

Elevated wave activity from Hurricane Erin was measured at CDIP stations along the East Coast last week.  Peak periods were longer than usual for tropical storms in the Atlantic Ocean, due to Erin’s extraordinary size, which added to the power of the waves that impacted the shoreline.  Attached bulletin

July 2025 Tsunami

The tsunami wave generated by the M 8.8 earthquake off Kamchatka was measured by the pressure sensor at station CDIP 073 Scripps Pier on 30 July 2025. Maximum peak-to-peak displacement was ~30 cm, similar to that reported by the co-located tide gauge among the NOAA operated tsunami capable sensors
